2011 Luis Pato Vinhas Velhas Beiras

Pato really shines in his Vinhas Velhas bottling. The 2011 takes the rusticityåÊof the Tinto, with its crazy range of flavors,åÊand makes sense of the whole picture. Similar inåÊcolor and saturation, it shows aromas of peppered salami,åÊbacon, black plum, boysenberry, and a hint ofåÊgreen cedar. On the palate, the acidity and tannin are well integrated.åÊIncredibly unique in expression, the wine shows good depth withåÊa wealthåÊof savory, gamy qualities, chief among themåÊbacon fat and salted pork.åÊThe fruitåÊis hardly overt, butåÊstill present, underlining the savory nature of the wine.
