2013 Sobon Estate "Rocky Top" Amador County Zinfandel

Nestled on a Southwest facing hillside in one of the higher elevations (near 3000 feat) in the Sierra foothills is a vineyard that was planted before the turn of the last century by the original owners, D‰۪Agostini family. Bought by Leon Sobon (Shenandoan Vineyards) in the early 1990s, this estate has produced some incredible Zinfandels from that location, if not from all of California. This 2013 is stunning wine, if not amazing Zinfandel. Deeply colored, the nose explodes with rich, opulent bouquet of classic Sierra foothill spicy white pepper to plumy notes with an almost granite to lava-like mineral note that stretches across its broad, succulent, viscous palate presentation. Well integrated, soft and silky, and showing wonderful depth of flavor, this Gem will be one of our house reds for the next year or two according to Rusty. Don‰۪t miss great Zin!
