2013 Domaine Gros Fr̬re & Soeur Ech̩zeaux Grand Cru

The 2013 Ech̩zeaux Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with macerated small dark cherries, mixed with cassis, burnt toast and cedar. The new wood here is in the driving seat. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, nicely balanced with a keen thread of acidity. There is some decent brambly red berry fruit here although it has a lot of new oak to soak up. (NM)
