2013 Domaine Bruno Clavelier "Les Corbeaux" Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

(a 50/50 blend of 70- and 45-year-old vines; vinified with about one-third whole clusters): Bright medium red. Delicate aromas of red raspberry, violet and licorice. Dense and sappy if youthfully clenched, offering terrific sugar/acid piquancy to the taut flavors of red raspberry, red cherry and pepper. Boasts superb energy on the long, rising, firmly tannic finish. Distinctly a cool, combe-influenced wine--less solid and dense than your typical Gevrey. This had only recently finished its malolactic fermentation. (ST)
