2012 Rivers-Marie "Kanzler Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

This was the winery's first vintage working with this notable vineyard, planted in Gold Ridge sandy loam soil in the "Sebastopol Hills" area at the southern end of the Russian River Valley AVA. "We are certainly off to a good start with vintages 2012 and 2013," they've concluded. About the 2012, the winemakers note: "The nose features blue fruit, pie filling, minerals, baking spice and some nice wood notes. Nose is expressive and hints at underlying structure. The palate is more open knit with acidity as its buffer. There's an incredible fruit focus to the finish with elements of black cherry, raspberry and plums hitting the entire black/red/purple spectrum."
