2012 Quinta do Popa Douro

The 2012 Tinto "Popa", with just P̫pa on the front, is a blend of Tinta Roriz (35%), Touriga Nacional (25%), Touriga Franca (20%) and an Old Vines field blend (20%). The Old Vines component was aged for six months in French Oak (a mixture of second- and third-use). This is a very nice value. Solid and showing good depth for the vintage and this level, it is also nicely structured with well-integrated tannins, but a real backbone. This bargain should drink well for most of the next decade or so. (MS)
