93 Raymond Chan: 89% Moutere Hills clay sites and 11% Waimea gravels. Dark, deep ruby-red colour with purple hues, paler on rim, youthful in appearance. This has a bright, vibrantly fruity nose showing a concentrated melange of dark red berries and cherries, with subtle dark herb elements, lifted by violet floral and oak nuances. Medium-full bodied, a fine grained tannin structure encases concentrated and rich, dark red berry and cherry fruit flavours. The fruit has sweetness with underlying herb detail, and grows in depth and power. The mouthfeel is dry and textured, the extract supporting the fruit drive and energy to a long and sustained finish which combines succulence and freshness. This is a bright, concentrated and rich fruited Pinot Noir with fine, grainy textures and the structure to ensure 5-7 years of aging." 92 Wine Front: "Fragrant entry to the wine with cherry fruit, subtle earthiness, a dried herb note and a light cedar character, quite a sophisticated start. Seamless, cool flow of fruit-driven flavours, coupled to fine, sandy tannins and a lick of refreshing acidity. Tightly wound, light, driving and lovely to drink Pinot Noir."
