2012 Fr̩d̩ric Magnien Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

The 2012 Charmes Chambertin includes fruit from both Mazoy̬res and Charmes-Chambertin. It has a floral bouquet that comes out of the blocks racing: pomegranate and cranberry scents, good delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very well-judged acidity and fine precision toward the finish that needs just a touch more persistence. Nevertheless, this remains a fine Charmes-Chambertin that should age well over the next decade. (NM)
