2011 Quinta do Popa Tinta Roriz Douro

While the powerful Touriga Nacional grape continues to attract a lot of the attention, and Touriga Franca has its vocal backers, I have heard of few people making a strong case for Roriz, otherwise known in Spain as Tempranillo. Quinta do Papa makes a beautiful example, intensely fruited and well balanced. They are justifiably proud of this bottling; it might be the best single varietal Tinta Roriz in Portugal.
