2004 Pol Roger Brut Ros̩ Champagne

65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, 15% red wine added. Seven years' ageing on lees before disgorgement. Dosage 9 g/l. Orangey gold. Delicate aroma with light notes of red fruit and spice. Assertive, powerful and long but with a tight finesse thanks to vibrant freshness and very fine light tannic texture, though the tannin builds to a pretty firm finish. Needs time and food. 17.5+/20 points. (JH)
