1987 Duckhorn "Three Palms" Napa Valley Merlot

Very firm and tannic, with a lean intensity of complex cherry and blackberry flavors. Spicy and slightly herbal. The oak dominates at this point and it needs at least until 1993 to '95 to shed enough tannin, but it is a well proportioned wine for the long term.
